College feels expensive. And confusing. And a little overwhelming—especially when everyone keeps saying “apply for scholarships” but no one explains where those actually come from.
Here’s the good news: being a Wyoming FFA member opens doors most students don’t even see. From scholarships offered exclusively to Wyoming FFA members and state officers, to awards tied to CDEs and LDEs, to opportunities through National FFA, your involvement can translate into real financial support for what comes next.
Some scholarships reward leadership. Others recognize competitive success, growth, or commitment over time. Not all of them look the same, and not all of them are announced the same way—but together, they add up to one important truth: what you do in FFA matters beyond the jacket.
Wyoming FFA Foundation Scholarships
Whether you’re planning on a two-year degree, 4-year degree, trade school or a vocational certificate, you have a chance to apply for financial aid through the Wyoming FFA. Scholarships are available to senior FFA members in high school and some FFA alumni in college.
Through a competitive selection process, academic scholarships are awarded annually at the Wyoming FFA Convention to deserving members. Thanks to the generosity of numerous scholarship donors, the Wyoming FFA awards scholarships to outstanding graduating seniors. These scholarships are awarded based on academic and FFA achievements, and community involvement.
The Wyoming FFA Foundation typically releases the scholarship application in January or February. Members can access the applications via their AET account.
National FFA Scholarships
The National FFA Scholarship program supports more than 1,000 students each year with financial aid totalling more than $2.8 million in support. Selections are based on the applicant’s leadership, academic record, FFA and other school and community activities, supervised agricultural or work experience in agricultural education and future goals
Students complete a single application for all scholarship opportunities. Applications typically open in November and close mid-January. Students are notified of their awards from National FFA. Visit https://www.ffa.org/participate/grants-and-scholarships/scholarships/ for more information.
CDE, LDE and other scholarships from local colleges and trade schools
In addition to Wyoming FFA Foundation scholarships, members who compete in Wyoming FFA activities may have the opportunity to earn scholarships sponsored by Wyoming colleges and universities. These awards recognize strong performance and participation in Career Development Events (CDEs), Leadership Development Events (LDEs), and other Wyoming FFA activities.
College-sponsored scholarships are often awarded to top individuals in specific events, such as prepared public speaking, agricultural mechanics, and other competitive areas. Scholarship opportunities and participating schools may vary from year to year, with details typically announced during the Wyoming FFA State Convention.

State FFA Officer Scholarships
Beginning in spring of 2026, Wyoming’s state FFA officers are eligible for the O.W. and Emma Horton Wyoming FFA State Officer Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to each retiring state officer following their completed year of service.
The award is in honor of O.W. and Emma Horton who raised 6 children in the farming community of Otto in Big Horn County. They were committed to the importance of their children and grandchildren’s education, with all 15 of their grandchildren receiving their bachelor’s degrees. They also believed deeply in the importance of being involved in their school and community, in Greybull and beyond, with nearly all their grandchildren being involved in FFA or 4-H.
