Greenhand Quiz Bowl
The Wyoming FFA Greenhand Quiz Bowl was created to give newer FFA members a place to jump in, speak up, and start building confidence early in their FFA journey. Originally designed for 9th grade members the competition has expanded to include any middle school or high school student. This competition introduces students to the quiz bowl format in a way that’s challenging, engaging, and—most importantly—fun.
Quiz bowls are a proven teaching tool across all subject areas, and agriculture is no exception. They present information in a semi-competitive setting that emphasizes friendliness, cooperation, and fairness rather than pressure or perfection. This contest is not about memorizing a list of questions. It’s about curiosity, learning how to think on your feet, and discovering that you know more than you think you do.
Participants develop critical thinking and reasoning abilities, learn to listen closely, make decisions quickly, and communicate clearly. It’s a starting point. A confidence builder. And for many, the first moment they realize they belong here—with Wyoming FFA, learning, growing, and showing what they’re capable of together.
