Middle school Agricultural Mechanics

MIDDLE SCHOOL Agricultural Mechanics

The Middle School Agricultural Mechanics Career Development Event challenges FFA members in grades 6–8 to demonstrate foundational skills in agricultural mechanics. This event focuses on safety, tool and equipment identification, measurement and precision, and problem-solving through real-world task scenarios.

Participants will work individually and as part of a team to apply hands-on knowledge in a structured contest environment. The event is designed to encourage practical skill development, build confidence, and introduce students to the expectations of future mechanics-related Career Development Events.

Who Should Participate

This event is ideal for middle school FFA members who are curious about how things work, enjoy hands-on activities, and want to develop skills that translate into high school agricultural mechanics competition and everyday life. Whether students plan to pursue careers in agriculture, skilled trades, engineering, or simply want practical mechanical understanding, this contest provides a strong foundation.

Middle school agricultural mechanics prepares students for continued involvement in the Wyoming FFA by laying the groundwork for success in the High School Agricultural Mechanics CDE later in their FFA careers. Through participation, students learn to think critically, follow safety protocols, and apply mechanical principles — essential skills both in the shop and beyond.
