WYOMING FFA STAR AWARDS

Overline

The Wyoming FFA Star Awards recognize members whose Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects represent the highest level of growth, management, and impact. These awards honor students who have taken ownership of their work, made thoughtful decisions, kept strong records, and demonstrated what it looks like to apply classroom learning in real life.

Each year, regional stars are selected in four areas, with one State Star ultimately chosen in each.

Star Awards recognize strong SAE management and long-term commitment.

Honors members who own and operate an agricultural business or provide agricultural services. These SAEs demonstrate planning, financial management, customer interaction, and real business responsibility.

Honors members who gain experience through paid or unpaid employment in an agricultural setting. These SAEs show growth in skills, responsibility, and professionalism through hands-on work for an employer.

Recognizes members whose SAE centers on research, experimentation, or scientific investigation related to agriculture. These projects focus on asking questions, collecting data, and applying science to solve problems.

Recognizes members whose SAE focuses on agricultural production they own or operate, such as livestock or crop enterprises. These projects show strong management, decision-making, and recordkeeping over time.

  • The Wyoming FFA State Officer Team visits each regional star candidate’s SAE project in person.
  • Regional committees of advisors select one regional star per area from that region’s current year State Degree applications.
  • Members who earned their State Degree in a prior year may not resubmit for Star consideration.
  • Each applicant may apply in more than one area, but may only advance in one area to State Star consideration.
  • The State Officers select one State Star in each area.

Star applications are submitted and scored through The Agricultural Experience Tracker (AET) and are evaluated using a detailed rubric that emphasizes:

  • Clear description and development of the SAE
  • Management decisions and evolving responsibilities
  • Efficiency, outcomes, and skill development
  • Quality and completeness of records and journals
  • Scope and complexity of the project
  • High-quality SAE photos with accurate captions
  • Professionalism, clarity, and attention to detail
  • February 13, 2026
Star Applications due via the AET submission process (No hard copies will be accepted)
  • March 1, 2026
Photos and information for regional star candidates due via Google Form

Regional or District Chairs will be asked to verify their regional star candidates. If you have questions about submissions or the AET process, please contact the Wyoming FFA State Office.

Star Awards recognize more than success. They recognize follow-through, decision-making, and growth over time. They honor members who didn’t just complete an SAE—but learned from it, adapted it, and owned it.

That’s the heart of FFA.

And that’s what these awards celebrate.
